A case of acute hemolytic transfusion reaction due to anti-Dia antibody -A case report-

چکیده
Many medical institutions in Korea have recently been performing an antibody screening test as one of the essential elements of a pre-transfusion test. The Di(a) antigen is well known as one of the antigens with low incidence among Caucasians; however, it has been discovered with a relatively higher incidence among Mongoloid populations. The frequency of the Di(a) antigen among the Korean population is estimated to be 6.4-14.5%. But in Korea, a screening panel of cells from abroad without Di(a) positive cells has been commonly used when a patient has an unexpected antibody screening test. Here we report a case of acute hemolytic transfusion reaction due to Anti-Di(a) antibody. To prevent other transfusion reaction by anti-Di(a) antibody, addition of Di(a) positive cells as unexpected antibody screening test is recommended.

Blood group incompatibility due to anti C antibody: a case report
Background and Aim: One of the main goals of blood transfusion medicine is to determine the compatibility of the blood products with the patients. Therefore, clinical and laboratory (serologic) evaluations should be done to determine the maximum compatibility (or minimum incompatibility). The most known blood groups is the ABO antigenic system and the most important of them is Rh system. Among ...

Here we report a severe case of hemolytic anemia of the newborn with kernicterus caused by anti-Di(a) antibody. A full term male infant was transferred due to hyperbilirubinemia on the third day of life. Despite single phototherapy, the baby's total bilirubin had elevated to 30.1 mg/dL. After exchange transfusion, total bilirubin decreased to 11.45 mg/dL. The direct antiglobulin test on the inf...
متن کاملA Case Report of Blood Group Discrepancy because of Anti A1 with Clinical Significance and Anti C
Abstract Background and objectives: ABO phenotyping is one of the essential tests in Immunohematology. Incompatible blood group transfusion leads to acute hemolysis reactions and other serious complications. Anti A1 is a cold Antibody with no clinical significance, but if it is reacted at 37˚c can be clinically significant, which will be happened rarely. At the present, we report a Case with a...
متن کامل[A hemolytic transfusion reaction due to Anti-Ku antibody in a patient with Knull phenotype: the first case in Korea].
Knull phenotype completely lacks all Kell system antigens. Anti-Ku antibody is seen in immunized persons with Knull phenotype by transfusion or pregnancy. It can cause a fatal hemolytic transfusion reaction. A 66-yr-old male patient with liver cirrhosis visited emergency center due to acute bleeding. The patient was at hypovolemic shock status: his blood pressure was 80/50 mmHg, pulse rate was ...

BACKGROUND Anti-IH is usually a clinically insignificant antibody that may complicate a serologic workup. However, it can occasionally cause hemolysis. We report a rare case of acute hemolysis caused by anti-IH. CASE REPORT A 60-year-old man with a long history of chronic myelomonocytic leukemia and anemia, blood group A, D+ was found to have an unidentified antibody on serologic workup. He r...
